How to delete a session
Right-click the session tab and choose Delete. Permanent and removes all rows, follow-ups, and stage notes inside that session.
The short version
Right-click the session tab at the top of the run of show, then choose Delete. Confirm the dialog and the session disappears. All of the rows, follow-ups, and stage notes inside it are removed at the same time — this isn't a soft archive, it's permanent.
This cannot be undone
Deleting a session permanently removes every row, every follow-up, and every stage note that belonged to it. Overture does not keep a hidden copy. Make sure you're on the right tab before you confirm.
Step by step
- Open the event that contains the session you want to remove.
- Find the session tab in the tab bar across the top of the run of show. Sessions are the tabbed days/segments — you'll usually see one per show day, but you can have as many as you need.
- Right-click the tab (on a touchscreen, long-press it). A small menu opens with Rename, Duplicate, and Delete. The Delete row is red so it's easy to spot — and hard to hit by accident.
- Click Delete. Overture shows a confirmation that reads "Delete this session? All rows, follow-ups, and stage notes in this session will be permanently removed. This cannot be undone."
- Click Delete in the confirmation to commit. The tab disappears and Overture jumps you to the neighboring session so you're not staring at an empty event.
Who can delete a session
Session delete follows the same permission as other destructive actions. The Delete row in the right-click menu is hidden for anyone who can't use it — so if you don't see it, it's a role limit, not a bug. See Administrator vs Producer vs Crew vs Viewer for the full role matrix. The short version: Owner, Administrator, and Producer can delete sessions. Crew and Viewer cannot.
There's also a safety lock: you can't delete the only session in an event. An event needs at least one session to make sense, so the menu will hide Delete on the last remaining tab. Add a second session first if you want to clear out the original.
What happens to follow-ups and stage notes
Both go away with the session. Specifically:
- Follow-ups attached to any row in that session are deleted — they will not appear on the global My Follow-ups page anymore.
- Stage leader notes tied to rows in that session are deleted along with the rows.
- Members and venues are NOT touched — those live at the event level, not the session level, so other sessions in the same event keep their members and venues intact.
I just want to clear the rows, not the session
If you want to keep the session tab (and its name, start time, members) but throw out everything inside it, delete the rows individually — see How to delete a row. Faster than rebuilding the session from scratch if you're keeping the schedule.
