How to let a crew member call the show

Grant a single crew member the ability to run Showtime live — without promoting them to Producer. One checkbox in the Members dialog.

By default, only Producers and Administrators can run the show live — advancing rows, pausing, resetting timers from the Showtime screen. The Owner can always run it too. Crew members are usually content-only and don't get the Showtime controls.

But sometimes you want one specific crew member — your ATEM operator, your show caller's backup, your AV lead — to be able to call cues. Overture lets you flip that on per-person, per-event, without promoting them all the way to Producer.

The "Call show" column

In the Members dialog, there's a column called Call show. What you see in each row depends on the role:

Steps

  1. Open the event and click Members in the dashboard toolbar.
  2. Find the crew member's row.
  3. In the Call show column, click the checkbox. The label switches from No to Yes and saves immediately.

What changes for the crew member

The next time they open the event (or refresh), the gold star Showtime button on the dashboard will be active for them. They can launch the Showtime popup, advance cues with the spacebar, pause and reset timers — exactly like a Producer would. They still can't edit session structure or invite other members.

How to turn it back off

Click the same checkbox again. The label flips back to No, the change saves, and the Showtime controls disappear for that crew member the next time their session refreshes.

Tip — promoting first, granting second

If you find yourself flipping Call show Yes for the same person every event, consider just promoting them to Producer instead. Producers always have Call show, plus they can edit the run of show — which is usually what a regular show-caller actually needs.
